Chris, this is exactly the exchange The Friday Binding is built for. I read "Shared Reality Doesn't Build Itself," and it did real work for me. The nervous-system framing of loop-backs is what I kept trying to say but couldn't quite land. Duhigg will give you the Chapter 1 scene (Jim Lawler and Yasmin, 1982) that I think maps almost perfectly onto your coherence-verification argument. Looking forward to what you do with it.
